It’s official, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are headed to the Super Bowl and that means the live event that plenty of people anticipate just as much as the game, the halftime show. This year the halftime show performer is the Weeknd, whose real name is Abel, the Canadian singer has been most notable for recent hit, “Blinding Lights,” and one of his earlier songs, “Starboy.” He has also won three Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards and nine Billboard Music Awards for his music.
The PepsiCo Senior Vice President had this to say about his upcoming performance:
“After a year that’s largely been void of live music, we can’t wait to watch The Weeknd transform the world’s biggest stage with his limitless talent and creativity, delivering what will most certainly be an unforgettable performance that will be remembered for years to come.”
Suspicion lures if The Weeknd will have any guests during the performance especially when a good amount of his hits have come as collaborations with other artists. Ariana Grande and Kendrick Lamar are two examples and since several of the recent halftime shows have featured multiple performers many fans have been speculating. However, the public probably won’t know about any surprises until the actual performance. So hold on tight until February 7th!
